Invitation

On behalf of the Australian Institute of Physics and the Victorian branch, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 19th Australian Institute of Physics Congress to be held at the new Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 5th – 9th December 2010. Additionally, the Australian Optical Society and Engineers Australia wish to highlight the co-location of the 35th Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology (ACOFT).

The AIP/ACOFT 2010 Congress will be the biggest and most diverse scientific meeting of the Australian physics calendar. The AIP Congress attracts many of Australia’s finest physicists plus a number of prominent overseas attendees. It provides a forum for discussions within specialist physics topic areas and opportunities for physicists from academia, government, industry and the commercial sector to keep up to date in areas outside their core interests. The Congress covers approximately 20 special interest groups and, in 2010, the incorporation of ACOFT (this is only the second time that these two premier events have been brought together) will attract specialists from areas of telecommunication engineering.

The four day program includes plenary lectures, parallel sessions, catered poster sessions, exhibitions, public lectures, industry forum, the Congress dinner and a strong social program, all of which provide a variety of settings for delegates to increase and update their knowledge, catch up with old friends and colleagues and make new ones. The Congress theme of Living Physics reflects the richness of the field and brings a wealth of opportunities for delegates, presenters and sponsors and exhibitors to engage.

We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne and to your valued participation in the AIP/ACOFT 2010 Congress.
